One interesting comedian who worked with me was a Scottish comedian, Bob Ferguson whose wife, Mary was his straight woman. They owned a cat called Rossingham, who was trained to go to the toilet, and they showed me a photo of their striped tabby sitting on the toilet in the hotel room. Ed was offered a job as understudy to Buddy Hackett on Broadway but turned it down to stay in burlesque where he was assured many weeks of work. He read the Hebrew newspaper and was the cleanest comedian in burlesque, never resorting to foul language for laughs!
